Hi Jared,

That's interesting. eReaders definitely don't have any kind of RSVP, but you might be able to find a desktop program with that functionality. (Or probably you already have found one.)

Neither the method of scrolling horizontally or moving a highlight really matches proven methods of RSVP. RSVP reading is in fact the flashing of words from 7-12 characters in length one at a time. The point is you don't have to move your eyes, which seems to be the biggest obstacle to reading speed, and you don't get distracted by other words and lose your place.

I'm disappointed that neither has decent RSVP software, as this would be the primary reason I would buy an ereader.

Hi Nicholas-
OK, thanks for the tip. I'm still not sure anybody's going to convince casual readers to adopt this RSVP thing. Seems like a long long learning curve, and then you have to read everything on your computer or your phone? Eesh.

Evidently you can do this now with Sony Readers and Netgalley. Might be worth a look.

I am one of the people who is waiting for the upgrade. I’m spending my money instead on a iPod. But not for books. What I want (need!) from the Kindle is the ability to download manuscripts and make notes.
