Sheree-- you're almost certainly a robot, which makes me wonder why you can't seem to find another suitable robot to mate with. If in doubt, just look for the opposite parts. Ignore their name, as they will be ignoring yours.

If by some miracle, you're human, you're in luck! Netbooks are all the same. Buy the next one that pops up on Woot. Definitely don't use any other site to buy netbooks. Get me Sheree? Your heart pumps oil to your cold cold limbs.

I have spent some time reading articles about the best netbooks currently on the market, but all are 4-6 months old and none really draw any conclusions. I would like to get a netbook, rather than a laptop, due to price but more importantly something that is lightweight and portable. I need something suitable for use on the move, mainly for watching videos using VLC, so a good battery life and screen quality is needed and also word processing, using Microsoft Office. Also I would like something with a dual-core processor, if possible, and Windows 7.

Hi Jocelyn,

Thanks for stopping by.

I still don't think ereaders are ready for class work or serious reading. There are more touchscreen ereaders coming out now than there were a year ago, but I wouldn't feel comfortable using them in any environment where I might have to keep up with people who have paper books, like a classroom.

If you have the money, you can go for a BeBook Neo or an iRex DR800SG, which is a hundred bucks more and has the same kind of half-a-touchscreen (i.e. you can click on things and highlight, but you can't draw).

Both of those options support Adobe ePub, so at worst, you'll blow $100-200 more than you need to. Personally, I'm just not impressed with ereader touchscreens.

If I had to buy an ereader right now, I'd still get a Sony Pocket Edition, or an Astak Pocket Pro. I'd use the simple bookmarking system, takes notes with a paper notebook, and save myself the money.

Does that answer your question?

Thanks,
